Oh, America: SARAH PALIN BOOK SIGNING – Interviews with Supporters
I don't care what side of the political fence you are on, or even if you sit squarely in the middle of it.
I think we can reach a poly-partisan agreement on one thing, though: America is getting stupid.
This video is from the line outside of a Sarah Palin book signing. You owe it a watch.
Now, I will agree that editing can make people look stupid, and can take things out of context, but crafty cuts are not the issue here. Pure, wholesale stupidity is.
YouTube - SARAH PALIN BOOK SIGNING - Interviews with Supporters.
Some people are ignorant... they would be so if they stopped with, "I'm not familiar with that," or "I don't know." They become stupid when they BS their way into the following choice snippets:
"I don't think he's even an American citizen." (about Barack Obama)
"We do need to have profiling. I mean the 'politically correctness' has gotta be get out now. We're Americans, and she sticks up for the American people." (about Sarah Palin)
"When you're right, you don't have to compromise. Compromise is for people that are wrong."
My personal favorite:
"The state that she did govern was right across the street from Russia..." (Oh, just play from 4:52 on for about 20 seconds. This one is priceless.)
"Well, look at it like this: suppose that, suppose that we do drill. And suppo-- and not just for oil but for gas."
"We need to get the polar bears off the endangered list so we can drill [Alaska]." (Who knew that PETA was responsible for the Endangered Species List?)
"I watch FOX News a lot."
I honestly don't see how this guy made it through these interviews without his head exploding. That takes some serious willpower.
Is stupidity America's largest untapped natural resource?

Happy Thanksgiving!
May everyone find something for which to be grateful.
This We Know
You've always known that those huge factories were belching God-only-knows-what pollutants into the atmosphere and water.
Now, figure it out! Check out thisweknow.org. The site takes data from US Government sources and formats it so that it's pretty and easy to read. Go key in your ZIP code, then get ready to form a hippie tree-hugging circle.
The Hubble Rides Again
This is well worth your time: pictures from the Hubble Space Telescope after its upgrades.
Absolutely stunning, and eerily haunting.
A little sample:

Carina Nebula
Stars Bursting to Life in Chaotic Carina Nebula
These two images of a huge pillar of star birth demonstrate how observations taken in visible and in infrared light by NASA's Hubble Space Telescope reveal dramatically different and complementary views of an object.
